Lakshmi Store is in an old Madras home . As a matter of fact, a quiet corner of the house has been converted to a boutique for sari lovers. For instance ,women who are looking for something out of the ordinary. In addition,a small garden with a small pond and lilies at the entrance adds an old world charm. Further, the Lakshmi shop is minimalistic in its décor and aesthetic in its appeal.
Sarees
There are three rooms filled with Uppada, Banarasis, Kalamkaris, Jamdanis, Kotas, Kanjivarams and Khadis, all personally curated by Vani Polavaram, the owner. The Uppadas and the Khadi silks and cottons are designed and manufactured by her. She has also personally handpicked the other varieties from other sources. The Lakshmi store has textures, the weaves and colours are subtle and elegant. This store is not for those wanting to see ceiling high stacks of saris with endless varieties. The collection is limited and exclusive.
The Khadi and Uppada saris start from Rs 10,000 apiece.
In addition they stock Kora silk, Matka silk and Kanjivaram silk cottons as well. One room also stocks brocade blouse pieces.
Lakshmi-Custom blouses
They will do the tailoring for the blouse if the material is purchased from the shop.
