It is traditional Indian Embroidery popular in Rajasthan. They use metallic threads to create beautiful patterns on the dresses. They typically use, gold & silver threads. The richness of gold or silver threads creates a  grand and shimmering effect. Further, metallic threads are strong and sturdy. This is added to metallic sequins in gold or silver. This kind of work gives a stiff appearance to the fabric. Embroidery done in this fashion means a strong and sturdy look. Sometimes, gotta work is also added to marori work. This creates an even more  magnificent appearance. Gotta is silver leather work.

In addition, etching on a metal surface and adding black laquer  at the base  is also known as Marori work. Beautiful brass vases are painted with Marori work in this manner.
