In fact,Chennai has been a very traditional city and shopping markets/ areas are still very popular.However, the opening of the shopping malls in Chennai has taken the city by storm. The prospect of branded international stores selling trendy westernwear is fashionable . Dresses such as  trousers, jeans, tops, skirts are very attractive to the younger generation. Whats more , stylish shoes, sneakers, stiletoes and pumps are all available now. Accessories such as bags and clutches and jewellery that go with both Inidan & western outfits are also available.

The Express Avenue Mall in Mount Road is one of the large format Malls in chennai and is extremely popular. It is large , centrally located and has anchor stores such as M&S,H&M and LifeStyle,Home center & more. In addition, it also has a beautiful atrium.

The Velacherry Mall known as the Phoenix Mall in Chennai is another spacious and large Mall . They also have a host of options for shopping , dining & entertainment Zara,M&S, AND, Steve Madden,Lifestyle are popular stores here. The forum Mall in Vadapalani is another large mall serving the interests of shoppers in that part of town. With the increase in population in that area,this mall has become very popular. Even if it is just to see a movie, or to have a quick bite ,people love to hang out here and have fun. It is also large & spacious.

The City Center Mall in Mylapore and the Isphani Mall in Nungambakkam are much smaller shopping malls in comparison to the other malls stated above and do not offer the range of shopping experience that the large malls offer.
