In fact,some of the huge statues in brass, bronze and wood can be seen displayed outside the shop as you drive past. Brass handicraft Srushti-The Handicrafts Emporium ,Chennai, is engaged in exporting and supplying brass and bronze handicraft and handicrafts made of semi-precious stones. It was established in the year 2000. Brass lamps, plates and bowls are very typical handicraft pieces in Chennai.Take the lamps for instance .They are typically oil lamps that work with oil and a wick. The simple lamps are made interesting by making it a hanging lamp.As a result, they are aesthetically wonderful.Furthermore, there are lamps that are perched on an elephant head or a peacock. Hence, they look innovative and decorative . Lamps can be just 3″ to 4″ or 3′ to 6′ in height. Each lamp is shaped differently. Lighting a lamp in individual homes is considered auspicious. The sculptures of lord Ganesha playing the various musical instruments and female deities with dance postures are some of the rare and interesting pieces. In addition ,they also have 6’ and 7’ wood panels that are intricately carved with mythological figures. These wood panels can be used in the verandah & inside homes as well. The pendants and earrings are all beautifully designed . At Rs 2,00,000 + a piece , they are stunning pieces of jewellery . Some of the pieces embrace traditional South Indian designs. Azurina in Alwarpet

It is a fairly large store as compared to the several small stores adjacent to it . If you are in this part of town wondering where to shop for causal summer dresses, step into Azurina . Colourful pants in pink & peach and stylish cotton cropped pants in checks and stripes are on display. The fabric is so soft that you would wish to buy more than one of these. They are in the Rs 1500 to Rs 2000/piece price range . They stock tops and tunics in pastel colours that all look very stylish . They also stock casual & baggy tops . Just the sort of dresses that will be ideal for a beach holiday . As you go further inside the shop, which leads to a small ante room , there are frocks for kids on display. Pretty pinks and bright red coloured dresses for girls are all beautifully finished with ribbons and bows. They are essentially simple and comfortable dresses. While the kids dresses are on one side , they stock night dresses for women on the other side. In the main section of the store ,they stock home & dining accessories as well . While the collection is not huge ,it is certainly worth a buy . Look out for cocktail napkins, coordinated table mats, runners and other dining accessories. Cheese plates, oversized cutting boards and salad bowls in wood are also available here. Wreaths with dried flowers and some similar dried flower arrangements make up for some additional home accessory items . They have some small rugs on display as well. This is a good shop for casual wear apparels and gifting items. Azurina was started by Dipu Krishnamurthi. The Bay of Bengal waters (Azure) and the Casuarina trees are the inspiration for the name. It was started in 2010.
